basicmannersBASIC MANNERS (Obedience)
Dogs 5 months and older

This 6 week class will help you learn how to motivate and communicate with your dog. You’ll teach your dog skills including Come, Attention, Sit, Down, Stay, Impulse Control, Go To Your Place, and Leash Manners, plus a trick of your choice. You’ll enjoy the small class size and fun atmosphere. Families are welcome and kids over 8 are encouraged to train. Please bring vaccination records to the first class, but leave your dog at home. The first class meeting is for the humans only. Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

Class meets once a week for 6 weeks, $165.  Free make up sessions available monthly.

 


SHY DOG

This class is designed to help shy or fearful dogs build confidence while learning some of the basics. If your dog is reluctant to meet people, trembles in a new environment, or tries to hide, this class may be the one for you. If you’re uncertain, please ask for a pre-class interview. This class is limited to four dogs (and 1- 2 adults per dog). Please bring vaccination records to the first class, but leave your dog at home. The first class meeting is for the humans only. Class meets once a week for 6 weeks, $165.  Free make up sessions available monthly.


CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
Intermediate Level Manners / Obedience – 6 mos and up

cgc-classThis class is the next step after Basic Manners, or for those interested in therapy dog work, or before beginning dog sports. We’ll polish all the basics, with emphasis on loose leash walking, polite greetings, and stays. Dogs will learn how to respond in distracting environments. Final class will include an evaluation for AKC certification as “Canine Good Citizen”. Prerequisite: Minimum age 6 months; completion of Basic Manners, or equivalent training with instructor’s approval.

Class meets once a week for 6 weeks, $175 which includes CGC Test. 


THERAPY DOG PREP

Develop the skills you and your dog will need for visiting hospitals, schools or senior living centers. You’ll learn how to observe your dog to make sure he’s having a good experience. We will teach advanced handling skills, including moving around wheelchairs and small spaces, guiding your dog in crowded and noisy environments, sitting quietly to be petted all over, ignoring food on the floor and other distractions, and perhaps even a trick or two to charm clients. The goal of this class is to prepare teams for evaluations or tests given by the therapy organization of their choice. There is no certification granted by this class.

Prerequisite: Canine Good Citizen certification

LEASH MANNERS
All ages

Teach your dog how to walk with you on a relaxed, loose leash. This is probably the most-requested skill, and one that takes some time and dedication, so we’ve designed a class to focus on this one important activity. There are no special collars or harnesses required. Classes are held indoors at the Training Studio, but there may be some field trips as we practice more real life situations. Class is limited to four participants. Dogs should be friendly or neutral with other dogs and people. If your dog is overly reactive to seeing people or dogs, please contact us to see if this class is right for you. Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

Class meets once a week for 4 weeks, $120.


AGILITY FUNDAMENTALS
Intermediate Level – Dogs 1 year and up

Is your dog a running, jumping agility prospect? Want to get started but not sure quite how to go about it? This class will give you the foundation skills for succeeding in beginner agility classes. Before you start full-size agility obstacles, there are some basics you’ll need. Start-line stays, following your body signals (left, right, go forward, jump), go through the tunnel, make the teeter board bang, and beginning weave poles. Practice working off leash with your dog in a safe, indoor environment to gain the control he will need on the agility field. Limited to four dog/owner teams.

Prerequisite: Dogs should be comfortable around new dogs and people, and have skills equivalent to our Basic Manners or Canine Good Citizen (come, sit, down, stay). Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

RALLY OBEDIENCE
Intermediate Level

Rally-O makes a game out of obedience to take your dog’s performance to the next level. Dog and owner teams follow different courses of obedience-related tasks. Rally is great for enhancing your dog’s focus and attention. Praise and play (and treats) are encouraged to make practicing obedience fun. Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

Prerequisite: Minimum age 6 months; completion of Basic Manners, or equivalent training, with instructor’s approval.

Class meets once a week for 6 weeks, $165.  


RALLY ADVANCED
Advanced Level – for continuing Rally teams

For Novice, Advanced, and Excellent competition rally practice. Whether you plan to compete in Rally or just want to have fun working with your dog, you’ll have tons of fun coming to this class with your best canine pal. Repeats monthly. Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

Prerequisite: Rally Obedience 6 week class or equivalent experience, with instructor approval.

Class meets once a week for 4 weeks, $120.


HIGH ENERGY DOGS

If you live with one, you know a daily walk just isn’t enough, although it’s a good start. This class will teach you games, puzzles, and relaxation exercises to do with your dog to help satisfy their need for mental stimulation and enrichment. No prior training is required, although our Basic Manners class is recommended prior to this class.

DOGS ON THE TOWN
Intermediate Level

Practice manners and obedience in real life settings. Join other dog/owner teams for visits to area outdoor cafes and dog –friendly locations for real life training. Dogs must be non-reactive on leash and know their basics (sit, down, stay). This is a great opportunity to get out and about with your dog, have some fun and practice good dog manners around public distractions. Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

Prerequisite: Canine Good Citizen or approval of instructor.

TRICKS & CLICKER SKILLS
Intermediate Level – all ages

groupclasses-tricksExplore the applications of clicker training within the format of teaching fun tricks. From simple to complex, you will love seeing your dog learn and perform with joy and ease. Maybe even earn a Novice Trick Dog title. If you’ve wondered about clicker training, this is a great intro, especially if your dog already knows his basic obedience. If you’d like to take your clicker training experience to an expert level, this class will help you hone your skills outside of your sport. Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

FIND IT! (NOSEWORK)
All Dogs, All Levels

All dogs have an amazing ability to locate and follow scent. Find It games use the dog’s desire to hunt and the love of food and toys/play. All dogs can participate. Obedience is not required. Nose work is a super method to help your dog build confidence, have fun, and use mental and physical energy. Plus, it’s simple to do and no special equipment is required. Once you learn how, it’s easy to do at home. Please review Info & Policies before enrolling.

Suitable for dog-reactive, fearful and handicapped dogs. Dogs take turns, no other dogs are in the area while your dog is working.

Class meets once a week for 4 weeks, $120.


housetrainingHouse Training Workshop – One hour, people only (no dogs)

Tired of cleaning up accidents? Frustrated that your dog doesn’t let you know when she needs to “go”? This one-hour workshop covers all the techniques for achieving a reliably house-trained dog, whether you’re starting with a new puppy or need remedial help for an older puppy or adult dog. Includes a book on housetraining and a practice string of bells for your door. For humans only, no dogs attend this workshop.

One day/one hour, $25.

 


Dog Training Spring TX

  • Dog Training Classes meet once a week for approximately one hour.
  • Small class size (4-6 dogs) provides the most individual dog training possible in a group setting.
